From Paper Maps to a Few Clicks: Digitizing a Church Cemetery

Not every project starts with a website — sometimes it starts with a filing cabinet. One church I worked with had decades of cemetery records scattered across hand-drawn maps, aging deeds, and paper files, with no real way to look anything up quickly.
I built them a complete digital system to replace it:
A master spreadsheet tracking all 48 lots
A color-coded binder directory for staff to use in the office
Simplified lot transfer documents
A public-facing map that shows lot information without exposing private family details
An interactive online lot directory so families can look things up themselves

What used to mean an office visit and a stack of paperwork now takes just a few clicks. It's a good reminder that "web design" isn't always about a flashy site — sometimes it's about untangling years of paper into something anyone can actually use.
